I was impressed with the overall performance of the game, which was almost always solidly presented and ran smoothly. The look and feel of the series’ trademark combat are all here, allowing you to dismember opponents, parry attacks and hone your skills to become what you want.
#BLADE AND SORCERY VR KICKING PC#
You won’t see as many enemies at once as in the PC version, and of course, the graphics have been downgraded, but that’s nothing that won’t fool your brain into thinking you’re actually there most of the time. Seeing all of this on the Oculus Quest 2’s meager mobile CPU was nothing short of amazing. Pots, bowls, weapons, or even tables and benches are interactive and can be lifted, each with their own physical weight and proportions seemingly in line with real life.

True to the sandbox fashion, you can choose to fight these enemies however you like for steel, by magic or with the robust physics engine built into the game.Ĭasting spells can be an effective way to electrocute, burn or drag your enemies into a black hole and lift objects with telekinesis and hurl them haphazardly at your unwitting foes who never get old. Most of the destinations are designed to be true sandbox arenas where you can select from dozens and dozens of different enemy options that will spawn in waves to fight you over and over. The game is a complete sandbox from the start, with half a dozen locations and any medieval weapon you can imagine.

Half a dozen different destinations await you at launch and there are more on the way as the game’s developers have announced that they will continue to update the game alongside the PC version, but not at the same time as both games are quite different on a technical level. Within your humble abode, you will be able to practice any weapon you choose, cast any spell at your disposal, and decide where your next adventure will take you. It’s a quaint place with a nice fireplace, a comfortable breakfast nook, and almost any medieval weapon you might think of hidden in the corner of the room. Taking this extra time also prepares you for the “Dungeons” mode which you can also play at any time.Įvery time you start the game, you will find yourself in what can only be considered your home. The goldilocks of VR weapon management, if you will.Īs each weapon looks quite different, we recommend playing with all of them to find out which ones are your favorites, which is certainly possible thanks to the developer’s fully sandboxed design.

It’s a balanced mix of “video game” and semi-realistic that feels right. Unlike Until You Fall, however, most Blade & Sorcery: Nomad weapons don’t feel overly heavy or slow. Just like in games like Until You Fal on Oculus Quest, each weapon has its own virtual size and weight which affects how you can attack with it, how much damage you do, and how it will handle if you use it with one or more two hands.īlade & Sorcery: Nomad’s physics-based combat feels like the golden curls of VR weapon management. From the moment you launch the game, you’ll get that familiar feel of the world, physics engine, and free-flowing combat that made the PC version so popular. In most cases, Blade & Sorcery: Nomad is essentially identical to the PC version of Blade & Sorcery.
